The cannabis industry is strict when it comes to contaminants and for good reason, we are smoking, eating, lathering and lubing with this stuff after all. With so many uses available, consumers have barely begun to discern quality past THC value and appearance. There are many ways to cultivate cannabis and end up at the same commonly measurable point but it’s the less tangible things that cause true bag appeal. Have you noticed there’s not nearly as much purple bud anymore, this is a direct result of the perpetual cycle, when you separate a cannabis plant from experiencing colder fall like temperatures during bloom its natural colors won’t show up in the harvested bud. Due to stringent testing requirements, zoning laws and local smell ordinances, growers are opting for temperature controlled greenhouses and warehouses that separate them from their natural environment. Terroir is the taste of a region and comes from growing outside in soil under the sun, the plants experiencing highs and lows of temperature and a natural season. With newly passed shelf life regulations on flower there is a need for black out curtains and perpetual cycle techniques that further separate growers from the seasonality of their region and with each new contaminant law it will be harder and harder for growers to cultivate cannabis in a way similar to the other high end libation that has been drawing a lot of analogies to the industry as of late, wine.
